“Having a stroke changed my life. While the recovery journey is not always easy, I have learnt that Patience, Practice and Perseverance are key elements to remember—not just for me, but for everyone around me.
There is no quick fix when it comes to stroke recovery. This is where patience comes in—for both you and your support team. Progress can take time, and it’s important to allow yourself that time to heal and improve.
Allied health therapies—whether it’s physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech pathology—all require practice. Repetition and persistence are essential, and small gains can lead to meaningful progress over time.
I’ve learned that improvement doesn’t happen overnight. You may face challenges along the way, but don’t give up at the first or second hurdle. Persevere and believe in yourself.
